the many phases of the hair on top of my head

Alternative titles for this post include: 'reasons to post pictures of myself on the internet', 'vanity and photobooth make a lovely pair' and 'I miss my long hair'.

Anyway I'm back in sunny new york city, I'm tired, and I feel a bit ill, so I am going to do this post instead of something that actually takes effort. A chronology of my hair:

Long Hair. What I rocked for the majority of my life.
until....
I got a bob!
That wasn't enough trauma, so...
I chopped it all off. And now I miss my long hair.

Oh and this?

I just like this one.

What do you all think? Let's judge my hairstyles over the last year- please feel free to be rude, critical, and really sarcastic. k thanks bye.

Oh p.s. just because I am feeling very sardonic today does not mean I don't love you, and THANK YOU to everyone who has been emailing me with ideas/contributions to my weeeeedle collagey thing. Yeah I'm excited for it. Now I'm gonna go read godammit.com and laugh at everyone else's misery.

p.p.s. pretties. if you click the pics they get bigger. yay. i love you all excessively.

MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE!

I have an idea!

I just received an email from W25 magazine, an online magazine that's dedicated to pushing the traditional limits of all creative things, asking me to contribute to the next issue. This is something I would love to do, and I would love it if you all would help.

So my idea is this: Blogging has increasingly become a larger part of my life, a source of inspiration, and a network of friends, and I want to reflect this through my contribution to W25. This is where you all come into the picture. If you would email me files of pictures you take that are part of your 'bloglife' I would like to put together a collage (I like collages...) entitled something like 'the power of blogging'. I want this to represent the connectedness and inspiration that comes from interweb relationships, and the unique and interesting power that those hold in the world.

So click away on your cameras and email me the pretty things you make!

Life is for living

This is how I'm feeling now

I'm in Virginia right now, on both sad terms and wonderful ones. The reason for my trip was to attend a memorial service of one of the most amazing women I have had the privilege to know. She was the sort of woman who lived, who really lived. Thinking about her life has made me wonder about my own, and about what life is. Margery's love for the people around her was evident, it was contagious, it was joyful and wonderful and boundless. She was encouraging, never pushy, adventurous, and accepting. What is it that we value, what is the legacy that we would like to leave behind? It may be that the things we value in others, in ourselves, and in our lives is the product of our socialization, of our culture, it may be that there is no pure good, and no pure bad, in the world. But I think it can also be that there are ways of being that are light, that are uplifting and comforting and heartening. Those are the sort of things that I want to be remembered for. I want people to come together at the end of my life to celebrate my life, not to mourn my death. I want to be remembered as someone who enriched the world, who made an exciting and wonderful place for myself and for those around me. Through Margery's death I have been reminded to live, where ever I am, whomever I am with, and however I can. I want to leave this earth with an effervescent beauty that will last long after I am gone. I will do what I love, and love all that I do. I will push the limit, and make new ones when I break the ones I've broken. I'm going to go live.

This trip has also made me realize how much I love my crazy crazy family. And you all, for bearing with my emotional outpourings. MUCH MUCH LOVE!!

On a lonely rode and traveling

This is how I am feeling right now.

This is also what happens when I am on a train for five hours. Please click on it to see the large and glorious version.
I love you all to oblivion.

p.s. the above line means "I made the damn collage, so don't take it without giving me credit!" Just a clarification. In case anyone was wondering. Which I'm sure they weren't, but you can never be too safe. Unless you are living in a bomb shelter in the middle of Arkansas, in which case, you can be too safe. But I digress.

I haven't washed my hair

My dear and lovely readers:

I sincerely apologize for the lack of updates and comment replies. I have not forgotten you, and I dare not forsake you for much longer, but I have been having a most eventful and occupied week, which is consequently drawing me away from my computer. To give you a taste of the extravagant and scandalous life I am living, my week has consisted of boys, strippers, interning for Harper's Bazaar, copious amounts of alcohol, little sleep, and amazing wonderful friends.

I do love New York City.

And I do love you all.

Sincerely,

Angela

oh p.s. ugh ugh ugh I have like 17 free seconds and thought I would try to reply to comments, because only assholes don't reply to comments when they have free seconds, but this fucking computer is fucking with my plan of not being an asshole. I'll reply asap my darlings, but at the moment, I'm going to read some magazines. LOVE.

Mmmm, now I smell like these people

Yesterday I had a free half hour between internship-ing and yoga-ing during which I found myself thoughtlessly marching into Lord & Taylor to window shop. Less than ten minutes later I emerged with an $87 dollar bottle of perfume, nicely wrapped, and stowed in a little white bag.

I dropped $87 dollars on a bottle of perfume. My thought process went something like this:
Oh, the perfume department- I bet they have Burberry London.
Yes they do! Oh, and the lady behind the counter is so nice.
I love this scent so much.
"I'll take the biggest bottle you have."

I do not impulse buy.
I do not impulse buy.
I only infrequently impulse buy very good quality expensive perfume.

I also do not regret.
(Only because I am still in denial, and I do smell fucking great)
