I dreamt about snakes last night

I think it's funny that when I am content with my life I have less to say.
Less inspiration, almost.
Less need to find catharsis, less emotional outpouring.
I sort of miss the angst that forced so much beauty out of myself.

But on the other hand, I sort of like being content.
I think that's it, contentment breeds sedation.

Isn't that funny?
We look for contentment in everything, and when we find it, we find that it makes us sedentary, lazy, and then we realize that the looking for it was really the point, the act of searching, the scouring and seeking the real adventure.

Being content is boring.

So now I am going to have an adventure, and find excitement, because excitement is not contentment, and excitement is not boring.

On a side note, isn't Tim Walker fucking brilliant?? He's the one fashion photographer that consistently reminds me that fashion (please note that I am talking about the fashion industry, and 'fashion', which I differentiate greatly from style, dressing, and the use of clothing as a form of self expression) can be amazing. I've done a pretty drastic 180 in terms of how I regard fashion within the last year - going from wanting to work in that industry, to thinking that the industry is basically a capitalistic, consumeristic game for the rich, played by the rich. Tim's photography, however, reminds me that even if the fashion industry is a shallow cesspool of upper class elitists there is still art to be found there, and a beautiful sense of expression that is eloquently stated by finely crafted clothing.
Plus, disregarding the clothing he does or doesn't use, he takes fucking incredible photos.

Moustaches

Do you ever look at things you've done in the past and realize just how unhealthy and fucked up they were?

Do you ever wonder if what you are doing right at this second will be something you regret in the future?

Do you ever wonder why people procrastinate so much?

Do you ever wonder which road is the less travelled one?
(.)

Do you ever wonder what the people in your life would say if you completely reinvented yourself?

(.)

...I stayed up til 3am making myself a pair of rodarte tights. I'll show them to you soon...

Though in this life we may struggle, there ain't no reason to fight

Hello lovelies! I hope valentine's day was wonderful and full of hearts and kisses for all of you.

Now. Business.
I've been given a lot of tags recently, so here goes!

Mila gave this to anyone and everyone...

...and I give it to anyone and everyone too!

She also tagged me with this...

Step 1: respond and rework—answer the questions on your own blog, replace one question that you dislike with a question of your own invention, add one more question of your own.
Step 2: tag—eight other un-tagged people.

What are you wearing now? Jeans, a t-shirt cut into a tank top, and a sweatshirt borrowed from my boy.
What’s the last thing you read/are currently reading? The Book of Other People edited and compiled by Zadie Smith.
Do you nap a lot? Some days.
Who was the last person you hugged? My momma.
What’s your current obsession/addiction? Michael Franti, hippies, peace, love, bluegrass music, burlesque, and ritter sport chocolates.
Which item from your closet are you wearing most lately? My huge huge grey sweater that I blogged about a few posts ago.
What's for dinner? Pumpkin pound cake and a glass of milk.
What was the last thing you bought? A corset.
What are you listening to right now? Get with it! by Fruition
If you could have any super power, what would it be? The ability to fly. That would kick ass.
What is your favorite weather, and why? The kind of weather that is in the late spring and early summer- hot, but not too hot, dry, but not parched, and sunny...
What time do you usually get up? Depends!
What is your most challenging goal right now? To organize my life, and to keep my priorities straight.
Say something to the person who tagged you: I love you, I love you, I love you. You have brightened my life in so many ways!!
If you could have a house–totally paid for, fully furnished–anywhere in the world, where would you want it to be? Oh god...Maybe Germany, maybe England...I have not been to enough places to choose yet!
Favorite vacation spot? So far...Northern Italy. Or maybe Germany. I don't know.
What is your favorite item of clothing? My big fat huge grey sweater that I did a post on a little while ago, and a pair of red Calvin Klein underwear that look sort of like boy underwear.
Favorite pair of shoes you keep going back to over and over, even though your closet is overflowing with a zillion others: My ratty, broken, beat up, cheapo brown slouchy boots.
Name one thing you cannot live without: Oxygen.
What time is bed time? Whenever I'm sleepy.
If you could wake up anywhere tomorrow morning, where would it be? Somewhere warm and sunny, with this boy that I really like waking up next to.

Next, Micaela  has given me this tag...

You have to make a poem that incorporates a word that starts with the second letter of your last name. Like, the second letter of my last name is h, so I will now come up with a short poem that incorporates a word that starts with h...

I'm stuck.
This poem's not coming out.
The words are glued to the inside of my head.
They're staying there, glued, dried, unable to be unleashed.
I'm trying to pick them up, pry them off,
but they're stuck.
I'm stuck.

And next, Penny tagged me with this...

Describe your style: Different every day. An outward expression of who I innately am.
What are the staples in your wardrobe? Black tights and shiny black leggings, big sweaters, tunic shirts, and slips.
What is your signature look? It changes, but this winter it's been tights or leggings, a bandage skirt and tunic/baggy shirt, a couple of big layered slouchy sweaters, a slouchy hat, and boots.
What inspires you? Music, photographs, art, keeping my eyes open.
Who is your fashion muse? Myself.
Favourite purchase of all time? Who fucking knows... although I do love have a pair of 5 inch suede, slingback platforms that I got for 3o dollars which I LOVE.
Biggest splurge? Definitely my Burberry London perfume I bought this summer...
What's your beauty routine? I wash my face in the morning and at night with hand soap, and use lubriderm unscented lotion to moisturize. I'm pretty low key. And makeup wise it always depends.
What jewellery do you never take off? I take off all my jewelry at some point or another, but I always put my huge ass rings back on, and my little tiny ivory skull necklace.
What are you wishing for? Right this second? Summer. Summer summer summer.
What are your obsessions? Music, creating, exploring, adventuring, discovering, dancing, loving.

I'm tagging Jess, HRose, notebook doodles, Laura, the girls at Save Our Shoes, and Lottie to do any of these three tags that they would like.

I love you!

I'm burning up

I've begun to dance burlesque.
It's one of the most fun things I've ever done, plus I get to wear amazing lingerie like Dita and Maggie.
I'm in a class right now, and our first performance is in March- I can't wait!

Kisses

I love Valentine's Day.

Not because it has gooey romantic feelings at all- in fact, I don't remember a single Valentine's day where I did anything special with any significant boy in my life- I love it because it's one of the only holidays that still has it's own special feeling, a feeling that's been the same since I was a very little girl.

For me Christmas has lost its feeling, Halloween has lost its feeling, New Years has lost it's feeling, but Valentine's day hasn't.

I love making cards, and presents, and cookies, and cupcakes, and art...I've started already....

...and this year I just may have someone a little tiny special to me to spend it with...♥

♥ love for you all ♥

I'm a bridge and you're the water

I'm emotional again.
I've also been gone a lot, and thus my reader base is diminishing I feel.
I'm sorry.

Autumn took some photos of me for a school project, and I am in love with them...

Also, you should certainly look at her flickr
... because she's fucking amazing.
